History

Paragon Search Pty Ltd has evolved into a niche Human Resources Consulting practice since inception in 1997. Business owner and principal consultant Michael Clements has previously held directorships of international recruitment companies in Western Australia, and was an original founding board member of the Leukaemia Foundation of Western Australia (LFWA).

Our stated aim is to provide a Human Resources Consultancy service of the highest quality and standard, focused on meeting and exceeding client needs and expectations. The intention is to develop and maintain long term business relationships built on a detailed, distilled understanding of the client organisation and its people.

Meticulous selection processes in evaluating key skills, competency and interpersonal capabilities include a thorough and in-depth screening process and shortlisting, in-depth interviewing methodology and appropriate confidential detailed reference checking and psychological assessment if requested.

Who We Are

Michael Clements

Director / Principal Consultant

Michael has over 40 years' experience in the resources sector, including line management roles with Alcoa Australia, Bellway, Calibre, Rio Tinto & Worley. Prior to establishing Paragon Search Pty Ltd, Michael gained a sound understanding of Mining, Minerals Processing & refining procedures within commodities including open-cut projects in gold, bauxite, mineral sands, iron ore, shale, limestone and gravel quarry operations.

Michael has also worked within the Government sector on major infrastructure projects, including highway remediation and the upgrade of existing infrastructure, the Main Roads Department of Western Australia (MRDWA) and the Public Transport Authority (PTA) rail network.

His knowledge is complemented by statutory qualifications in Mine Management, a certified diploma in Project Management / Leadership, and a diploma in Work Health & Safety.

In addition to providing key personnel for operations across Australia, Paragon Search has successfully sourced and provided key personnel for significant open cut and mineral processing operations, and major infrastructure projects in Indonesia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Papua New Guinea, Ghana, Mali, Zimbabwe & South Africa.

Michael brings a personable interviewing style that allows candidates to feel comfortable and present themselves in a positive environment. A total commitment to both clients and candidates, combined with a successful methodology and process gained during previous directorships with international headhunting firms — Executive Selections Pty Ltd (previously the international recruitment arm of Arthur Andersen) and Taylor James Executive Personnel — ensures delivery on what is promised.

Yuen Cheng

Director / Company Secretary / Administration Manager

Yuen brings over 30 years of experience in project administration and company secretarial practice, spanning both Singapore and Australia. She has supported organisations across recruitment, resources, rail infrastructure, legal, medical and corporate sectors, giving her a broad and practical understanding of how businesses, and the people within them, really work.

Her connection to Paragon Search runs deep. Yuen has served as the company's Administration Manager since 2001, an association that continues today in her role as Director and Company Secretary.

Her wider career includes project administration on major rail systems with Ansaldo STS Australia (Automated Train Operations and Signalling), executive PR support at Citibank in Singapore, and running her own transcription/virtual administration practice. Fluent in English, Malay and Mandarin, she is equally at home coordinating people, logistics and the fine detail that keeps an organisation running smoothly.

Yuen combines meticulous attention to detail with genuine discretion, qualities that underpin the confidentiality and care Paragon Search extends to every candidate and client alike.

A cost effective yet meticulous approach to sourcing, selecting and assessing candidates is applied to middle management positions such as Line Managers, Supervisors and key support staff within sales & marketing and administrative roles. The same attention to detail ensures the most appropriate person is chosen.

Health Safety & Environment (HSE) and Work Health & Safety (WHS) Site Advisors for Perth operations, and also FIFO roles in manufacturing, transport, mining, refining & smelting operations
Civil Infrastructure key personnel in rail projects, both within the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and site operations for mining companies and contractors utilising remote site rail infrastructure

3. Contract Staff

Short-term solutions for a workplace requiring additional staff on a contract basis. Staff are provided on an agreed hourly rate. Typical roles include:
